What Our GPR Surveys Detect
Our Ground Penetrating Radar surveys locate and map:
Buried utilities and services
High-voltage and low-voltage electric cables
Communication and telecoms cables
Water mains and gas services
Foul, storm, and combined drainage systems
Fibre optic, fuel and heating lines etc.
Reinforcement, post-tension cables, and embedded concrete services
Voids, obstructions, and anomalous ground conditions
GPR is particularly effective where electromagnetic location is limited, including non-metallic services and reinforced concrete
Our Expertise
Road-Based GPR Surveys (Stream-Up)
Our road-based GPR surveys use Stream-Up systems, designed for rapid data collection along highways and major roads. These vehicle-mounted systems use optimised antenna centre frequencies to balance depth penetration and resolution, making them ideal for large-scale road and pavement investigations with minimal disruption. Lower to mid-range frequencies allow continuous coverage and deeper detection along road networks.
Widebody GPR Surveys (Stream DP)
For large or complex sites, we deliver omnidirectional GPR surveys using Stream DP. Multi-channel antenna arrays capture data in multiple directions simultaneously, improving detection of utilities running at different orientations. Carefully selected antenna frequencies and central frequencies provide enhanced coverage, depth accuracy, and resolution in congested ground. This system combines low and high frequencies across multiple channels to detect shallow and deep services more reliably. All data is fully post-processed to increase confidence and reduce the risk of missed services.
Standard GPR Surveys
We also provide standard walk-over GPR surveys using systems such as GS8000, Leica DS4000, Leica DS2000, and MALA GPR. These systems operate across a range of antenna centre frequencies, allowing high-resolution detection of shallow and deeper features for PAS 128 utility surveys, concrete scanning, trial holes, and borehole clearance. Higher-frequency antennas provide detailed resolution for shallow utilities and embedded structures, while lower frequencies reach deeper subsurface features.
GPR Data Post-Processing (In-House)
Magnitude Geo post-processes all GPR survey data in-house, allowing detailed interpretation, improved depth accuracy, and clearer identification of utilities, structures, voids, and anomalies. Our experienced specialists can also post-process client-supplied GPR data, enhancing resolution, confidence, and reliability for construction, engineering, and ground investigation projects across London, the South East, and the Home Counties.
